2) IP (VoIP) phones for your employees
3) Analog phones plugged into VoIP ATA's routing to the internet.
Each of these setups are utilizing Voice over IP to connect over the internet to your hosted trixbox. This means there is no charge for the connection from the work station to the offsite PBX which is used to route the calls to each employee.
